What To Take With You On Alaska Cruises

An Alaskan cruise is certainly one of those one in a lifetime experiences.You will witness scenery and animals that very few people have had the pleasure of seeing and indeed cannot be seen by any other method. You cannot even see them on Canada tours cruises. It’s not like any other cruises you will have been on however so don’t expect to pack the same as might have done before. So what are the key things you need to take?

Lots of warm clothes. This might go without saying but you’d be surprised how many people automatically associate a cruise with warm weather. Alaska can get pretty cold, with temperatures heading towards -30 degrees Celsius in the winter. The summer time offers some more reasonable temperatures but if you are going to be in the elements you will still need some clothes with decent warmth.

Binoculars. If you forgot these you will be kicking yourself. Whilst everyone around you is gasping in amazement, you’ll be squinting to make out the tail of something that might be a whale. Because everything is so big in Alaska, including the boats, most of the things you want to look at will be reasonably small in comparison. Bringing along some binoculars will really help you experience everything better and will mean you won’t hurt your eyes.

Camera. If you have camera with a big enough lens then you might not need to take bincoculars. But for most of us we will probably need both. A camera is not only useful for studying the pictures after you have taken them but also to share the experience of your amazing Alaska cruise with friends and family when you return.

Wildlife book.If you spot an unknown animal and have any resource to look it up in, it will play with your mind for a long time. It can also be quite fun learning about the wildlife and understanding what their actions mean and how they go about their days.

Thermos. This is one of those things that will learn to treasure when you spend any length of time above the deck. There is not a great deal more I can add.
