The dramatic Brecon Beacons National Park is one of three National Parks in Wales. The other two are Snowdonia and The Pembrokeshire Coast. The Brecon Mountain Railway is without doubt worth a visit. Take a trip behind a vintage steam locomotive in one of the all weather observation coaches. Take pleasure in the scenic surroundings of the national park along the way. There is a new kids’s play area at Pontsticill which is very popular with the little ones. It is a pleasant spot for a picnic and there are pretty views across the Taf Fechan Reservoir.

The thriving market town of Crickhowell nestles in the attractive Usk Valley. There is a fine choice of places to have a meal along with a number of interesting shops. The district is a mecca for out-of-doors enthusiasts and there are opportunities to go hang gliding, horse riding, walking, canoeing and much more.
