Indonesia is known as the country of thousands islands along with the great diversity of its people, cultures and philosophy. As the largest archipelago in this planet, Indonesia consists of approximately 18,000 islands ranging on more than 5,000 km along the equator. With thousands of islands, Indonesia is rich in nature. The forest occupied almost 60% of the Indonesian land. Besides that, Indonesia is known for having a great number of volcanoes, up to 500 in which 12 % of them are active. Indonesia with 250 million citizens is also in the fourth position of the most populous country in the world after China, India and USA. Because of this diversity, Indonesia has more than 300 ethnic groups with around 600 different dialects and languages.
With the range of diversity in various aspects, Indonesia Vacations have become something challenging.
Indonesia can be a mixture of an amazingly beautiful tropical paradise and the constant threatening danger, such as the earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic disturbance and also the civil or communal conflicts. The excitement stemmed also from the fact that we had a month to spend there exploring these marvellous islands; home to active volcanoes, spectacular beaches and unique wildlife, like the Komodo dragon.
Vacation in Indonesia has been supported with great tourism infrastructures. One of the most developed one is Bali. There is a new regulation for a number of Nationals to be able to get an arrival visa once they land on Ngurah Rai, The Bali International Airport. It is something which will certainly helpful and attract the tourists coming to Indonesia or Bali in particular. From the Airport, the tourist can easily find the transportation, such as taxi, to get to every where they want. The tourists do not need to get worried about the language because lots of locals in Bali are able to speak English quite well. However, it is also possible for you to learn the Indonesian language because it is easier to learn compared to some other languages.
Because of its beauty, Bali is commonly called as the island of gods. Bali is a perfect place to see a unique blending of the cultural and religious aspects of the society. The majority of Balinese people are Hindu. It is quite different compared to some other islands in Indonesia. For example, Java island ( the island next to Bali) is dominated by the Muslim, or Flores is dominated by Christians.
If the tourist feel like having an adventure for the real Bali, they can head to Nusa Lembongan, a small island two hours away by boat from Bali. Nusa Lembongan is located at the canal of Badung at the Southeast Coast of Bali Island. Besides Nusa Lembongan, there are the other two islands which are also located at the canal of Badung, named as Nusa Penida and Nusa Ceningan. These three islands are quite weak regarding to the economical power. The people there are commonly lived from the farming of seaweed, cattle and some other low-returned jobs. Getting there meant either taking a small, but expensive, motor boat taxi, or hiking with our heavy back packs up and downhill for a couple of hours.
There is a Mushroom Bay in Nusa Lembongan where the tourist can rent some lodging in Balinese style for some nights or more. During the stay, the tourist can enjoy having a breakfast by the beach, and it will be a luxurious experience.. After that, the tourist can explore the island by having a walking tour. The roads were not great and extremely steep in places, but off we set off. It is hard to lose one’s way around the island and we made it to the other side of the island, stopping off to admire the views and when stopped by friendly inquisitive children.
Driving through Nusa Ceningan, it was apparent that the island was much poorer than Nusa Lembongnan; the difference was tourism. Residents of Nusa Ceningan survived mostly through sea weed farming and when the trade wasn’t going well they had a difficult life.
Bali Attractions can certainly be a paradise for the travelers!
